Understanding Your Delta Dental Coverage
Delta Dental offers various plan types, and understanding yours is the first step. The most common are:
- Delta Dental PPO™: This is a Preferred Provider Organization plan. You have the flexibility to visit any licensed dentist, but you'll generally save the most money by choosing a dentist within the Delta Dental PPO network. These dentists have agreed to reduced fees for covered services.
- DeltaCare® USA (DHMO-type plan): This is a Dental Health Maintenance Organization plan. You typically need to choose a primary care general dentist within the DeltaCare USA network. This type of plan often has lower costs, and you'll know your out-of-pocket expenses upfront (often copayments) for procedures, with no deductibles or annual maximums.
- Delta Dental Premier®: This is a managed fee-for-service plan with a large network of dentists. These dentists have agreed to contracted fees with Delta Dental, so for covered services, you generally pay no more than your copay and deductible.
Keep in mind that most benefits reset annually. It's wise to use them before they expire. Our team can help you plan care around your coverage to ensure you maximize its value. Choosing an in-network provider like our dentists can also lower your out-of-pocket costs and simplify billing.
